Senior Minister - Rev. Mike Hunter
Mike has been involved in ministry in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for the past 31 years and was ordained by Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in 1995. Mike has served Disciple congregations in Lufkin (78-92; 00-09) and Tyler (92-00) in times of numerical and spiritual growth. From 2000-2009, he served as Senior Minister for First Christian Church of Lufkin, Texas. Mike is a certified educator and has additional distinction as a “Fellow” with the National Association of Church Business Administrators (NACBA). He has served on numerous community and denominational boards. He has degrees from Wayland Baptist University (BM) and Stephen F. Austin State University (MA). Mike has extended continuing education in preaching, program development and stewardship. Mike has written stewardship materials and led stewardship workshops for local congregations. Mike currently serves as secretary to the Regional Committee on Ministry for the Christian Church in the Southwest.
Mike is a member of the Emmaus community and has been guest preacher, assistant spiritual director and spiritual director for numerous Emmaus Walks. Mike recently completed his 15th year of football officiating, at the high school and junior college level. Mike is the oldest of four children, two of which are ordained clergy. He grew up on a farm near Morton, Texas, where he played basketball on a state championship team and made two appearances at the UIL State Tournament. Mike is married to Enid Hunter. Enid is an accomplished double reed soloist and elementary music educator. They have two married daughters, Micah James, youth director at East Dallas Christian Church and first year seminary student at TCU’s Brite Divinity School, and Cameron Seale, recent graduate of Sam Houston State University, currently seeking her first teaching/coaching position. Mike and Enid love RV camping and enjoy the southwest and the mountains.

Associate Minister for Youth and Young Adults
Cory Neal Glover will begin his ministry with us on or before September 1,
as Associate Minister for Youth and Young Adults. Cory is married to Marlene and they have one daughter, Jade, who is five months old. His hobbies are puzzles, golf, and all things sports. Cory is a graduate of East Texas Baptist and an MDiv recipient from Brite Divinity School at TCU. Cory was ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in October 2008, and has served several churches in Texas and Washington and most recently was Senior Minister for Northwest Christian Church in Arlington. Cory was on staff with Mike at First Christian, Lufkin, for four years, serving there as Associate for Youth.
Cory also chairs the youth ministry team for the entire Region and is serving as keynoter this week for our CYF camp in Brownwood. Our CYF youth received an advanced connection through camp this week! More details about the timing of the transition are still being worked out. Be in prayer for the Glovers as they make this move.
